If we take a step back, we often find ourselves blessed to have what we need. Naturally, we collect things that become invaluable to our happiness and family legacies, while other items lose significance over time. Being bogged down by our own good fortune is the best kind of problem to have. While we may want to make improvements or downsize to start anew elsewhere, we sometimes lack the time and/or tools to prioritize ourselves and refresh our homes.
This is where SimplifyLA comes in. We help clients prioritize their happiness and comfort by:
SimplifyLA has developed ways to live consciously which create greater room for peace and joy. Our simple systems free up space so our clients may see, feel and enjoy their lives’ many accomplishments and pleasures.
SimplifyLA specializes in dealing with the numerous shifts that are part of living a full, modern life. We understand that “ordinary times” can feel extraordinary and overwhelming.
But we don't have to do it all by ourselves.
Our clients regularly are going through life-transitions of:
· Aging
· Birth
· Death
· Divorce
· Downsizing
· Empty Nesting
· Family Blending
· Illness
· Marriage
· Moves & Transfers
· Retirement
As Los Angeles’ aging population grows, so do SimplifyLA’s outreach and success stories. Our Legacy Curation program answers the call of elders and their loved ones for help navigating through the crossroads of “Good Fortune & Reality.” We partner directly with our older-adult clients to guide them in realizing their desire to age with dignity and purpose.
Legacy Curation emphasizes that the most valuable item in an elder’s home is the elder. And we understand that they want to maximize their time by securing the accessibility of their family’s legacy-items for future generations.
Legacy Curation opens uncomfortable and often avoided, yet necessary, dialogue. We engage directly and sensitively with our clients before a shift in health or lifestyles occurs. (However, we are adept at handling emergency situations if those arise.) Through every step of assessment, consolidation and redistribution, we offer our clients “Compassionate Reality” so their vital memories and heirlooms can be preserved for their families and loved ones.
"SimplifyLA is our secret weapon for all types of household transition logistics. Shan has done everything from packing up and moving demanding celebrities to decluttering the homes of "elderly hoarders" for us. She is firm but patient with our clients and can navigate any situation or personality type with ease. I don’t know of anyone else that can do what she does with her level of care and efficiency. A one of a kind!" (Raymond D., Realtor & Office Manager, ENGEL & VÖLKERS, Santa Monica, CA)
"SimplifyLA helped make my move seamless by downsizing 26 years of accumulation, packing, taking care of donating items that I no longer needed, and hiring the best movers (who came in UNDER their already reasonably quoted price). Shan thoughtfully unpacked and organized my new home taking into account my habits and needs. She turned a stressful time into one where I felt supported and comfortable throughout and excited to move to my new home."

“SimplifyLA has made life simpler for multiple clients of mine and me. I’ve seen Shan transform rooms overflowing with “generations of stuff” and make them feel updated simply by prioritizing and redistributing items in ways that honor homeowners’ hearts. She is an amazing communicator who guides her clients with kindness through life’s various transitions. Thankfully, Shan is well connected with local non-profits and knows where clients’ donations will have the most impact.
Shan manages moves too. Whether relocating to LA and wanting their home ready upon arrival; moving abroad and needing everything sorted through, packed up, with items both shipped and stored; closing up a home after a death; or just making a point-A to point-B move, clients meet their missions with Shan’s invaluable help. Simply, Shan navigates otherwise tedious organizing and moving challenges, creates efficient solutions, pivots well and makes the process easy, smooth and even fun for clients. "

"SimplifyLA was with our family through some difficult times making each one easier while ultimately enriching my father’s final years and my family's time with him. Shan started with us when Dad relocated from out-of-state to our LA home. She helped us see quickly that we simply were not equipped to manage his care with or without outside help. After I found an assisted living home, Shan set up Dad's room with his favorite things so he could feel “at home” immediately. She scheduled weekly visits with him for the first three months at vital times in the day to ensure he connected with others, that the staff connected with him and that his belongings served to enhance his new and changing lifestyle. I saw my father go from depressed and sleeping most of his days to smiling, regaining his appetite, having a skip in his walker-supported-step, playing poker with the guys every day, and cherishing the opportunity to get and give what he could from life again. When dad fell ill, Shan came to the hospital to advocate for him. And when it was time to bring him back to his home, she was there with us through hospice taking care of things “behind the scenes." After Dad passed, Shan helped us carefully divide and pack up his belongings so that our family received the heirlooms we needed, while others’ lives could be enriched by his remaining items. The services we received were vital and based in compassion and practicality. Every family deserves both."

"My partner and I were living happily in LA when I received an unexpected promotion to head my company’s home office on the East Coast. We got the exciting news in December with a start date of January. Beyond the normal seasonal frenzy, we tried to get in the last of our West Coast life and pack ourselves. Looking back, it’s no surprise we were knocked down by horrible holiday colds. We had to surrender. SimplifyLA came in between Christmas and New Years to pick up where we left off. Shan arrived with soup for our recovery, sent us back to bed and jumped in with both feet. SimplifyLA packed our belongings, donated our leave-behinds, recycled our old electronics, oversaw the cleaning of our home from top to bottom, managed the shipping of dozens of boxes, arranged for one vehicle to be transported and packed our other car that we drove cross-country with our essentials, our most cherished valuables, an emergency kit and waters and snacks for the journey. They even planned our route making hotel reservations along the way and recommending places to eat. They were incredible and made the transition so much easier. If we had to do it again, we’d call SimplifyLA earlier and save ourselves unnecessary stress and valuable time."

"Over the past year, we realized that our 85-year old mother was having a hard time organizing things in her life and letting things go as she prepares to downsize from her three-bedroom home to an assisted living facility in the future. We decided that with all of the challenges that come with getting rid of things and time constraints, we needed to call in an outside person with the skills to organize and be compassionate during this emotionally charged process. We called in SimplifyLA. At first mom was reticent, but SimplifyLA came to her home and worked with her to establish a process that she was comfortable with. With great compassion and sensitivity, they slowly helped Mom let go of “unimportant” things, sell collectibles she wasn’t using and hold on to those items that she needed now while designating those she wanted to share with others in the future. Mom got to see her donations go directly to the charities she loves. She began to look forward to SimplifyLA’s “visits” and seeing her memories organized for her family and friends to have one day. We saw her go from anxious and upset by the process to welcoming and happy. Mom is still in her home but has great peace of mind knowing she’s already prepared if ever she ever has to relocate. We do too."

"SimplifyLA saved me when I moved to LA from the Midwest. I gained yearlong sunshine but lost my basement. SimplifyLA helped me locate and organize a storage space. They not only helped me sell and donate some of what I didn’t really need, but they created a very organized and easily-accessible space with a photo-inventory book so I can find things quickly. Even I have been able to manage keeping it in order. Super happy!"
